Berkeley China
Initiative

partnerships, and enrich public life by communicating
those results.
Berkeley India Initiative
In collaboration with the Center for South Asia Studies,
IAS is developing a comprehensive program of scholarship
and professional exchange with Indian educational
institutions, corporations, and non-governmental organizations.
Areas of emphasis include Indian democracy, technology
and the emerging economy, and India's artistic and
cultural heritage. Please contact Associate Dean Ananya

Berkeley
Programs for Study Abroad
Berkeley Programs for Study Abroad prepare students
to live in an internationally competitive environment.
More than 700 students study abroad each year through
UC's Education Abroad Program and other education
providers.
Global Leaders, Local Solutions
Global Leaders, Local Solutions is an innovative program
for practice abroad that trains UC Berkeley undergraduates
to work with local poverty-alleviation organizations
in developing countries. Piloted in 2005 with a public
health project in Palestine, the program will soon
be expanded to other areas and topics. For more information,
please contact Associate Dean Ananya Roy at ananya@berkeley.edu.

rights and humanitarian law with focus on war crimes
and justice, health and human rights, and globalization.
Religion,
Politics, and Globalization Program
The Religion, Politics, and Globalization Program
promotes multidisciplinary research and programming
on these themes by organizing lectures and conferences,

as a hub for community leaders interested in understanding
how the forces of religion, politics, and globalization
interact in the modern world.
Science, Technology,
and Society Center
The Science, Technology, and Society Center advances
