Arrival at Berkeley

Exchange students are expected to arrive at the start of the semester. Please refer to the Academic Calendar. The International Exchanges Orientation dates are listed in the student acceptance letter. Any questions or concerns exchange students may have will be addressed during the orientation. If an emergency should arise, however, the student should not hesitate to contact IAS either by email at exchange@uclink.berkeley.edu, or telephone at (510) 642-5462, or stop at the IAS offices located at 360 Stephens Hall during regular office hours: 9:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m.; 1:00 p.m. to 4 p.m.

Visa Orientation

Students are required to visit the Berkeley Interntional Office (BIO) Office located at the International House as part of the visa process. Students must refer to the BIO website for schedule information prior to their arrival in Berkeley. Upon arrival, they MUST attend one of the Scholars Information Meeting as listed on the BIO website. They must bring their DS-2019 and passport to the meeting. Students do not have to visit the office before the meeting unless they have questions about their visa/immigration status or other matter. Students are also welcome to attend any of the other orientation meetings BIO offers during the first few weeks before classes begin.
