How to Apply - Step by Step

“Most EAP programs do not require that you meet with an EAP adviser before you apply. This means that it is up to you to determine if you meet the minimum eligibility requirements for your program of interest. Follow these easy steps to research and then apply to an EAP program.

The Research Process

  1. Read on-line about the EAP options that interest you. You are responsible for knowing program information before applying. Research time averages 2 hours per country. See the directory of links on the main Program Info, How to Choose and Academic Credit pages for guidance. Pay special attention to the Need to Know documents written by EAP Regional Advisers for each country.
  2. You are required to have a CalMail email account to receive our messages. Set up a CalMail account if you do not already have one.
  3. Complete a Self-Assessment for each program that interests you to determine if you are eligible to apply. If you need assistance in thinking through the 247 EAP options, see the How to Choose section of our website. If you have doubts about your eligibility or suitability for a program, do not apply until you have consulted the adviser for that program. Print and save a copy of your Self-Assessment to submit as part of your application.
  4. If you have further questions after completing the Self-Assessment, or if you if you have questions not answered on-line, you can either email the adviser or meet with them during their drop-in advising hours. Drop-in advising is designed for brief advising (~10 minute maximum). If you feel you require a longer advising session, or if you can’t make it to any of the adviser’s drop-in hours, please email the adviser to schedule an appointment. When you come to meet with the adviser, bring your completed Self-Assessment along with a copy of your unofficial transcript (printed from BearFacts).
  5. Submit an application for only ONE program per participation period. Read more about the application policy.
  6. If you have determined that you meet the minimum eligibility requirements by following the steps above, access the online application.
