This symposium examines the challenges facing Islamic communities in the Diaspora, countries in which Muslims are a minority, with particular attention to the U.S. How does Islam develop in contexts of religious pluralism? What are the opportunities for interfaith dialogue? Invited speakers include Profs. John Esposito, Hamid Algar, and Amina Wadud. Friday 4:00-6:00 P.M. panels, and 7:00-8:30 P.M. keynote. Saturday from 9 A.M., keynotes, lunch, panels, workshops, music, exhibits, and films. Both days at the Graduate Theological Union, just north of the Berkeley campus.
