Columbia and NYU South Asian Language Reading Workshop

Columbia University, Southern Asian Institute, along with New York University, Middle Eastern Studies, is sponsoring a Reading
Workshop in South Asian languages (with focus on Hindi), to be held on May 21-22, 2005. The overall goal of the workshop is to take the participants from theory to practice. Teachers will be able to determine what reading texts are appropriate for which levels and why, how they can be approached and with what purpose. Also, they will learn how to design reading tasks for teaching language and reading strategies?

Presenters at this workshop are Dr. Vijay Gambhir (UPenn), Dr.Surendra Gambhir (UPenn), Dr. Gabriella Ilieva (NYU), Dr. Rakesh
Ranjan (Emory), Dr. Jishnu shankar (Syracuse) and Dr. Susham Bedi (Columbia University).
