Earthquake Relief

Map of the affected area

The Center for South Asia Studies extends its deepest sympathy to all those affected by the recent earthquake in South Asia. The death toll is already at 23,000, and the number is still rising. Additionally, tens of thousands of surviving victims in both Pakistan and India are still without aid. Due to a shortage of helicopters and the onset of winter, rescue is particularly difficult.

The list of relief organizations below is not comprehensive, and we welcome suggestions from CSAS community, particularly with regard to locally-based organizations with strong ties to the affected communities. We have also provided some links to blogs that are posting regularly on issues and events related to the earthquake, and to news sources that are off the beaten track of the major news outlets.

Suggestions should be sent to our webmaster at csashelp at berkeley dot edu.
