The Program in Middle East/South Asia Studies at the University of
California, Davis seeks a lecturer in Hindi/Urdu to start a new Hindi/Urdu
program beginning with first year Hindi/Urdu in 2006-2007. The lecturer
will teach one course in each of three terms, September 25-June 14,
with the possibility of renewal. Candidates should be fluent in both
Hindi and Urdu, able to teach both Perso-Arabic and Devanagari scripts,
and have experience teaching Hindi/Urdu at the first year level. The
ideal candidate should also have experience teaching other levels of
Hindi/Urdu, skills using digital teaching materials, an interest in
developing new teaching materials to supplement standard texts, and
a commitment to building all curricular and extra-curricular aspects
of a new Hindi/Urdu program. Applicant must have an M.A. or a Ph.D.,
