Suman Mukherjee is currently visiting Toledo University, Ohio as Visiting Assistant Professor in the Dept. of Theatre and Films.

Suman received theatre training from - La Mama Umbria International, Italy (2002);The International Institute Workshop, Munich, Germany; (1993); Trinity/La Mama Performing Arts Programme in New York, USA (1991).

Suman was a cultural delegate of Indian Council for Cultural Relations to Prague Quadrennial, 2003.
Suman studied filmmaking in New York Film Academy and made number of documentaries and short films which have been screened in different national and international festivals.

Suman was awarded the – ANANDALOK CHANCELLOR AWARD, ACHINTYA CHOUDHURY MEMORIAL AWARD for Best Production, Best Director from West Bengal State Theatre Academy (Play TEESTA PAARER BRITTANTO);ASIAN PAINTS SHIROMONI PURASHKAR for Best Production (Play GANTABYA); WEST BENGAL STATE THEATRE ACADEMY AWARD for Best Production (Play GANTABYA); SHYAMAL SEN SMRITI PURASHKAR for Best Production (Play CORIOLANUS).

Suman is a member of script committee of National Film Development Corporation and Member of West Bengal Theatre Academy.
